Climate Change: Ghana Seeks District Assembly Funding for Adaptation Plans

Climate change experts in Ghana say they are working with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to allocate part of the District Assemblies Common Fund towards climate adaptation plans.
The initiative was discussed at a three-day peer-learning event focused on strengthening efforts to respond to climate change risks and vulnerabilities in Ghana, South Africa and Kenya.
Director of Adaptation, Climate Resilience and Risk Management at the Environmental Protection Authority, Nana Dr. Antwi-Boasiako Amoah, says the discussions come at a crucial time as Africa continues to experience extreme climate changes.
The initiative is supported financially by the Government of the Netherlands.
