Tanker Drivers Begin 3-Day Strike Over Unsafe Kumasi Parking Yard

Ghana's National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union has begun a three-day sit-down strike over what it describes as unsafe and deteriorating conditions at its parking yard near the Kumasi Depot.
The drivers accuse the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company, BOST, of failing to rehabilitate the facility, which they say becomes particularly hazardous during rainfall.
They are also raising concerns over persistent fuel shortages during offloading, blaming faults in equipment at the depot.
The union says repeated engagements with BOST have failed to resolve the issues, raising concerns that a prolonged strike could disrupt fuel supplies.
Chairman of the Union, Dominic Brenya, says the drivers will only return to work once their concerns are addressed.
