Anti-war Yabloko blocked from Duma race ahead of September vote

The Yabloko party, Russia's only officially registered party openly opposing the war in Ukraine, has been barred from September's State Duma elections. The Supreme Court cancelled its registration after a nationalist party accused Yabloko of copyright violations and foreign funding, a case Yabloko calls politically motivated. Its leaders are appealing while continuing regional campaigns, amid prosecutions and long jail terms for prominent members. The outcome will decide if anti-war voters can back Yabloko candidates at the polls.
