Tema Mayor Ebi Bright alleges that TDC is undertaking construction on community playgrounds and reserved areas without the required development permits, despite enforcement notices and a court order.
She insists that under Ghana's local government laws, the TMA has planning and development permitting authority within the metropolis and says TDC must comply with the law and community consultation requirements.
TDC Ghana Managing Director Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, however, rejects the allegation of illegality, arguing that the company has a longstanding arrangement with assemblies that allows it to undertake certain projects without conventional permits.
