A nurse at the Kwame Shia Presbyterian Health Centre in rural Kwameasua is being praised for his passion, commitment and dedication to improving healthcare delivery in underserved communities.
When he arrived at the facility, it faced several challenges, while residents from surrounding communities travelled long distances to access healthcare.
Working with colleagues and community members, the nurse has helped strengthen immunisation services, public health education and community outreach.
He says his passion for serving people motivated him to work with health authorities to create additional outreach points for communities within the facility's catchment area.
The in-charge of the Kwame Shia Presbyterian Health Centre says his efforts have made a significant difference, particularly in childhood immunisation and the management of respiratory conditions.
His advocacy also helped the facility acquire a nebulizer, improving its ability to manage patients with respiratory challenges.
The story highlights how committed health workers can make a significant impact on healthcare access and outcomes in rural communities.
