Meet Godwin Kofi Tetteh, popularly known as the Degree Barber — a barber who is combining academic education, creativity and technical skill to challenge perceptions about the barbering profession.
With a master's degree in Brands and Communication from UPSA, Godwin says his education has helped him understand how to build, position and communicate his brand.
He describes his bigger mission as “bridging the gap between the skilled but uneducated and the educated but unskilled”, using his own journey to show that vocational skills and academic education can work together.
From initially cutting hair to survive, the Degree Barber says he has transformed his passion into a business and an inspiration for others looking to build careers in the creative and skilled trades.
He also explains the approach at Reflex Academy, where students are taught both the theory and practical fundamentals of barbering before entering the salon.
