Dr. Terry Ofosu-Bright has been dancing for more than four decades, beginning his journey in Form Two at secondary school around 1980.
Speaking to Frema Adunyame on the #UpsideDown Show, he reflects on how he discovered his passion for dance while studying as a science student, and how the art gradually became an important part of his life and career.
He also recalls how a dance performance during a radio interview attracted widespread attention and helped change perceptions about him as a university lecturer and Head of the Department of Dance Studies.
Dr. Ofosu-Bright says Ghana's dance industry has evolved significantly, with social media now giving dancers opportunities to create, share and reach global audiences directly.
He is also calling for a change in mindset towards dance and the creative arts, while urging the Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Ministry to support the renovation and equipping of cultural centres across the country.
