'I Have Never Met Or Taken Money Fom Berko' - Amadu Sorogho Denies AKSA Bribery Link

Former Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy, Amadu Sorogho, denies any involvement in the AKSA Energy bribery scandal, following the US conviction of former Goldman Sachs banker Asante Kwaku Berko.

Sorogho's denial joins a growing list of Ghanaian officials pushing back against allegations tied to Berko's case, including former Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor, who has similarly denied ever meeting Berko or receiving any money from him. A US federal jury convicted Berko on August 6, 2026, over a scheme to bribe Ghanaian officials with more than $1 million to help Turkish energy company Aksa Enerji secure a power plant deal during Ghana's "dumsor" era. The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has since escalated its own investigation into the case, working to trace and recover any assets linked to the bribery scheme.
