Alexander Abban cautions against trying to “buy our way into power”, while Duncan Amoah urges delegates to look beyond immediate financial benefits and elect aspirants who can solve problems. Dr Zaato calls for the democratic process to be respected.
The panel also examines the AKSA bribery scandal. Economic Adviser to the President Dr Sharif Khalid raises concerns about the optics surrounding K.T. Hammond's name and his role in pursuing the case involving another person. Duncan Amoah calls for the matter to be depoliticised and says the scandal should trigger a broader review of Ghana's procurement processes and international contracts. Dr Joshua Zaato calls for investigations into persons whose names have been mentioned and discusses the circumstances surrounding Asante Berko's appointment and resignation from Tema Oil Refinery.
The legal vacation controversy also comes under scrutiny, with Alexander Abban, Dr Sharif Khalid, Dr Joshua Zaato and Duncan Amoah debating judicial independence, speedy trials and the need to prevent partisan politics from influencing public confidence in the judiciary.
