Court Blocks NPP Ashanti Regional Elections Scheduled for Saturday

The High Court in Kumasi has placed an interim injunction on the New Patriotic Party's Ashanti Regional Executive Elections scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The order, issued on Thursday, August 13, restrains the NPP's Acting National Chairman, General Secretary, National Director of ICT, Ashanti Regional Steering Committee and Ashanti Regional Director from conducting, organising, supervising, facilitating or processing the elections.
The court, presided over by Justice Osman Abdul-Hakeem, granted the application after hearing Frank Pinto Amartey, appearing for Pius Kwado Asare, counsel for the plaintiffs.
The injunction follows a challenge by a group of NPP members who, according to the court order, were not included in the appropriate voter register or electoral album for the regional elections.
