Kenneth Gilbert Adjei Takes Over as Defence Minister

Kenneth Gilbert Adjei has formally assumed office as Ghana's substantive Defence Minister, nearly a year after the death of his predecessor, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, in a military helicopter crash.

The new Defence Minister signed the official handing-over documents with Acting Defence Minister and Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson following his reassignment from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources in President John Mahama's recent ministerial reshuffle.

At the handing-over ceremony, Dr Ato Forson called for a major shift in Ghana's defence strategy towards a technology-led, intelligence-driven and agile military.
