Potala Palace | Episode 7: Breathing New Life

The peaceful liberation of Xizang on May 23, 1951, marked a vital turning point in its history, paving the way for democratic reform, the emancipation of 1 million serfs, and profound social change across the plateau.

When Lhasa's Potala Palace was later inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, it evolved from a symbol of religious and political authority into a cultural monument representing the unity and diversity of the Chinese nation.

In the 60 years since its establishment, the Xizang Autonomous Region has realized what is often described as "a millennium of development within a few decades."

The final episode of "Potala Palace" highlights the region's achievements in economic development, social progress, cultural preservation, religious affairs and ecological protection, while portraying the everyday lives of people from all ethnic groups.
