TMA vs TDC: Mayor Ebi Bright Orders Halt to Controversial Tema Construction

Tension is mounting between the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) and TDC Ghana Limited over ongoing construction works sanctioned by TDC at Community 1, Sites 3 and 8 in Tema.
The development follows a decision by the TMA Taskforce to halt the project and demolish structures on the land, which the Assembly and residents claim was reserved for a community playground and other public facilities.
Speaking at the construction site, Mayor of Tema, Ebi Bright, said the matter had been under discussion at the metropolitan security level.
She said several warnings were issued to the contractors to suspend work pending resolution of the issue, but the directives were ignored.
According to the Assembly, no permit had been obtained for the construction works to commence.
