Konkomba Yam Market Opposes AMA’s 24-Hour Economy Market Plan

The leadership of the Konkomba Yam Market is appealing to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to reconsider plans to construct a 24-hour economy market at the site of the existing yam market.
Secretary of the Council of Leadership, Tanyam Anthony, says the market plays a key role in supplying food to Accra and supports thousands of traders and workers.
The leadership says it supports the government's 24-hour economy initiative but wants an alternative location considered while improvements are made to the existing market.
The traders are calling for better roads, streetlights and security at the market.
