Kasoa: Traditional Leaders Demand Action Against MCE, MP Over Land Dispute

Traditional leaders of the Awutu Senya East Municipality have boycotted a planned sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 24-Hour Economy Market around the Kasoa New Market area.
The chiefs say they are unhappy with what they describe as a blatant disregard for their authority by political leaders and have resolved not to release land for government projects until their concerns are addressed.
They have accused Municipal Chief Executive Seth Sabah Serwonoo-Banini and Member of Parliament Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunkor of using lands previously reserved for traditional purposes for personal gains.
Speaking at a press conference, Boundary Chief of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Kwabena Atopi, also raised concerns over the construction of permanent stalls around the Kasoa Interchange by a private individual following the eviction of hundreds of traders.
The traditional leaders say they remain committed to supporting government development initiatives but want the President to intervene and call the MCE and MP to order.
