Madina Market: Police To Arrest Traders Engaging Children In Kayayei

The Madina Divisional Police Command has announced plans to intensify enforcement against child labour and human trafficking at the Madina Market.

The Command says traders and other persons who engage children, particularly those who should be in school, in activities such as head-portering, popularly known as kayayei, will be arrested.

Speaking to Citi News, Madina Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Dr. Sarah Aba-Afari warned that persons who recruit or engage children in their businesses will face arrest.

The Police say the intensified enforcement forms part of efforts to protect children and prevent them from being exploited for commercial activities.
