The race for the First Vice Chairman position of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region is intensifying ahead of the party's upcoming regional executive elections.

The incumbent, Kwabena Senkyire, is seeking re-election but faces competition from Bernard Amofa Jantua, former Fomena Constituency Chairman Akwasi Nti Asamoah and Regional Research Officer Patrick Acheampong.

The contest is expected to be closely watched as the NPP prepares to reorganise its grassroots structures and position the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The First Vice Chairman position has previously been fiercely contested in the region, with Patrick Acheampong defeating incumbent Kwabena Nsenskyire in the 2022 regional elections.
