Dr Bawumia’s Name Should Not Be Dragged Into NPP Regional Elections – Gideon Boako

The Member of Parliament for Tano North, Dr. Gideon Boako, has cautioned NPP members against dragging the name of the party's flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, into the ongoing regional executive elections.
Speaking to the media during the final day of Odeneho Kwaku Appiah's tour of the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Boako said Dr. Bawumia's interest as the party's flagbearer and “father of the party” is to see credible executives elected across all regions to help the NPP secure victory in 2028.
He stressed that Dr. Bawumia's concern is not about endorsing one candidate over another and urged party members not to use the flagbearer's name to advance their preferred candidates.
Dr. Boako, however, disclosed that he personally supports Odeneho Kwaku Appiah in the contest for Ashanti Regional Chairperson.
He explained that other people close to Dr. Bawumia also have their preferred candidates, describing this as a normal part of a democratic process.
Dr. Boako urged delegates to focus on candidates with the capacity to unite the NPP, strengthen the party and help it recapture power in 2028, adding that in his view, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah is the right person for the job.
