Nurses’ Salary Arrears: 99% of Coalition Members Receive Payment

The Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives says about 99% of its 13,000 members recruited in December 2024 have received their salary arrears.

The Coalition says the payments followed interventions by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance to resolve the employment and payment challenges affecting its members.

A delegation of the Coalition paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Health to express appreciation for the Ministry's efforts in addressing the issue.

Speaking during the visit, Coalition President Stephen Kwadwo Takyiah said the group was initially formed to advocate for nurses and midwives who had been reinstated onto the government payroll but were still owed arrears.

He said the Coalition is hopeful that the remaining outstanding payments will be settled by the end of August, after which the group will be dissolved.
