99% of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives Receive Salary Arrears

The Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives says about 99% of its 13,000 members recruited in December 2024 have now received their salary arrears.
The Coalition says the payments followed interventions by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance to address the employment and payment challenges faced by the nurses and midwives.
A delegation of the Coalition paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Health to express appreciation for the Ministry's efforts.
Speaking during the visit, Coalition President Stephen Kwadwo Takyiah explained that the group was initially formed to advocate for nurses and midwives who had been reinstated onto the government payroll but were still owed salary arrears.
The Coalition is hopeful that the remaining outstanding payments will be settled by the end of August, after which the group is expected to be dissolved.
