Sanitation Fund Needed to Prevent More Floods – Central Regional Minister

Central Regional Minister Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah is calling for the establishment of a dedicated sanitation fund, similar to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), to provide Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies with adequate resources to tackle Ghana's waste management challenges.
Speaking on the sidelines of the National Dialogue on Decentralization and Responsive Governance, the Minister said increased investment in sanitation is necessary to strengthen waste management and help prevent a repeat of the June 29 floods.
He believes a dedicated funding mechanism would give assemblies the resources needed to improve sanitation infrastructure and respond more effectively to waste management challenges.
