World-first stacked water-saving basins power the Pinglu Canal#coolchina
There is a natural water level gap of about 65 meters along the #Pinglu Canal in south #China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Instead of installing traditional water-wasting ship locks, engineers have adopted a world‑first design: three stacked water‑saving basins. Three major shipping hubs act as giant water elevators, moving ships up and down. The unique basin system recycles water efficiently and cuts water consumption by over 60%, supporting eco-friendly inland waterway #transport.
