Symbiosis | Harvesting the Sun in the Desert
Twelve thousand heliostats track the sun day and night across Dunhuang's Gobi Desert, site of China's first 100‑megawatt molten‑salt tower concentrated solar power plant. With virtually no existing technical blueprints, builders overcame great challenges to develop an independent, home‑grown industrial supply chain. This massive solar‑mirror facility produces 250 million kilowatt‑hours of clean electricity annually, enabling coexistence between humans and the desert and ushering in a new era of clean energy.
