The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has defended its imposition of delinquency charges on motorists with expired driver's licences, insisting the fees are legal and approved by Parliament.
The defence follows calls by public policy think-tank CUTS International for Parliament to investigate the legality and administration of the charges.
Speaking to the media during a courtesy visit by the Ga Mantse, CEO of the DVLA Julius Neequaye Kotey maintained that the Authority is acting within the law and that the charges were not determined arbitrarily by the DVLA.
