Hungary Elects Ousted Judge Andras Baka as New President

Hungary's National Assembly has elected Dr. Andras Baka as President of the Republic, in a move widely seen as a break with Viktor Orban's approach to power. Baka, a former Supreme Court judge, was removed under Orban before the European Court of Human Rights ruled his dismissal unfair. New Prime Minister Peter Magyar frames the choice as symbolic, while Baka urges healing, rejecting revenge and calling for restored checks and balances in Hungarian democracy.
