Europe awaits first total solar eclipse since 1999 | BBC News

On Wednesday, parts of Europe will be plunged into daytime darkness as the moon passes in front of the sun, temporarily blocking its light and casting a shadow across the continent. The path of total eclipse begins at the tip of Siberia before curving round the Arctic Ocean and crossing parts of Greenland and Iceland. It then proceeds across a stretch of the northern Atlantic Ocean before reaching northern Spain and finishing in the Mediterranean. Other parts of Europe will see a partial eclipse. It is only expected to last a couple of minutes for people who watch it, but some people have crossed continents to witness it.
