The US bribery case involving allegations linked to Ghana has sparked renewed calls for transparency, accountability and a thorough investigation into individuals and transactions connected to the case.
Former Anyaa Sowutuom MP Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi says the matter will be a major test for President John Dramani Mahama, urging the government to act decisively on individuals implicated in the allegations and review their roles on state boards.
Managing Editor of The Herald, Larry Dogbey, is demanding full disclosure of officials who travelled as part of the delegation linked to the allegations. He also calls for investigators to trace financial transactions, establish who received the alleged funds and determine whether former Energy Minister KT Hammond was in Turkey at the relevant time and had dealings with the company at the centre of the allegations.
Meanwhile, Acting Deputy CEO of the Ghana Gaming Commission, Lamtiig Apanga, says the case has exposed serious weaknesses in Ghana's institutions.
He questions why transactions that allegedly occurred in Ghana took more than a decade to come under scrutiny locally, arguing that Ghana's own institutions have failed to act effectively.
The discussion raises key questions about:
The individuals linked to the US bribery allegations Officials who travelled as part of the delegation The role of former Energy Minister KT Hammond Alleged transactions and the movement of funds Ghana's institutional response to the case President Mahama's responsibility to ensure accountability The need for transparency and full disclosure
