The Asante Kwaku Berko AKSA bribery case has raised fresh questions about the possible involvement of Ghanaian officials in the controversial power project.
U.S. prosecutors allege that Berko and his co-conspirators paid bribes to Ghanaian government officials to help a Turkish energy company secure approvals for a power plant project in Ghana. The indictment identifies Ghana Official 1 and Ghana Official 2, both linked to the Ministry of Power, but does not publicly name them.
The alleged scheme involved approvals from senior officials and government institutions, including the Ministry of Power, Cabinet and Parliament, as well as regulatory approvals involving GRIDCo and PURC.
