The Chiefs and people of Atronie in the Sunyani Municipality have protested against the destruction of the River Amoma, which they blame on illegal mining activities.
The protest disrupted traffic along the Sunyani-Ntrotroso road for several hours as residents expressed concern over the impact of illegal mining on the river and the environment.
Addressing the media, the Assembly Member for Atronie, Richard Adu, called on NAIMOS and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene and stop the illegal mining activities.
Residents are demanding immediate action to protect the River Amoma and safeguard the community's environment and water resources.
