Ahmed Ibrahim Raises Alarm Over Financial Gaps at MMDAs

Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Ahmed Ibrahim has raised concerns over financial management and project execution gaps at Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
According to the Minister, the challenges were identified during monitoring visits to selected MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region and are undermining efforts to improve basic services at the local level.
Speaking at the Second National Dialogue on Decentralisation and Responsive Governance, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim said stronger institutional capacity and improved collaboration among ministries and state agencies are needed to address the challenges.
He stressed that effective coordination and better financial management are critical to ensuring development projects are properly executed and deliver their intended results to communities.
