GoldBod Refines 7.1 Tonnes of Gold Locally in 2026 – Sammy Gyamfi

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) says 7.1 metric tonnes of gold purchased this year have been refined locally.
GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi says the move is helping to keep refining fees in Ghana while creating jobs and supporting economic activity.
However, Mr. Gyamfi acknowledged that local refineries currently do not have the capacity to process all the gold purchased by GoldBod.
He made the disclosure during a Space conversation on X on Sunday, where he discussed GoldBod's gold purchasing and refining operations.
The push for local refining is part of efforts to retain more value from Ghana's gold resources within the domestic economy.
