Residents of Huniso, Samaho and Tebekrom in the Prestea-Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region have demonstrated against the Apinto Divisional Council over calls for the non-renewal of the Gold Fields Tarkwa Mine lease.
The residents have described the position of the traditional leaders as selfish and contrary to the development needs and interests of ordinary community members.
The demonstration highlights growing concerns over the future of the mining operation and its impact on communities within the area.
