LEAP Expansion: Government Targets 400,000 Households After Beneficiary Exits

More than 70 percent of beneficiary households under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme have recorded improvements in their incomes and livelihoods, enabling some to exit the initiative.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, disclosed this during a working visit to the Sagnarigu, Savelugu and Kumbungu areas in the Northern Region to assess the onboarding of new beneficiaries.

According to the Minister, the progress recorded under LEAP will create space for the inclusion of other vulnerable households as government works towards expanding the programme to reach its target of 400,000 beneficiary households.

The LEAP programme provides support to vulnerable households while promoting improved livelihoods and social protection across Ghana.
