Marc van Bommel Appointed Belgium Head Coach on Two-Year Deal

Former FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich midfielder Marc van Bommel has been appointed head coach of the Belgium national team on a two-year contract.
Van Bommel replaces Rudi Garcia, who guided Belgium to the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Dutch coach arrives after a successful spell at Royal Antwerp, where he won the Belgian Jupiler Pro League title, Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup.
Speaking after his appointment, Van Bommel described managing a national team as one of the best roles in football, saying he is excited by the opportunity to work with Belgium's top players.
He added that while coaching a national team differs from club football, the challenge suits him and he is ready to begin a new chapter with Belgium.
