MIIF Targets Defaulting Companies as It Pushes for Full Mineral Royalty Payments

The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) says it is intensifying efforts to ensure all eligible companies pay their mineral royalties as part of measures to maximise returns for the state.
The Chief Executive Officer of MIIF, Justina Nelson, made the announcement during a courtesy visit by the Fund's management to the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, ahead of the Homowo Festival.
She said MIIF has strengthened its internal systems and corporate governance while collaborating with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to bring defaulting companies into the royalty payment regime.
According to Justina Nelson, the strategy has helped the Fund improve investment returns and revenue mobilisation despite the reduction of its royalty entitlement from seven percent to two percent.
She added that MIIF remains committed to ensuring Ghana's mineral wealth delivers benefits for both present and future generations.
