Ga Mantse Describes Girl Child as Endangered Species, Calls for Urgent Protection

The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has described the girl child as an endangered species, calling on leaders and stakeholders to take urgent steps to protect and empower girls.
The Ga Mantse made the call at the launch of the Strong and Healthy Minds, Strong and Healthy Women (SAHM SAHW) initiative in Accra.
He stressed that safeguarding the girl child must remain a national priority, urging queen mothers and other stakeholders to collaborate to ensure the success of initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of girls and women.
The non-profit initiative seeks to promote mental wellness, empower women and strengthen communities through psychosocial support, vocational training, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and other income-generating opportunities.
Founder of the SAHM SAHW organisation, Dr. Theresa Aryee Baffour, said the programme was established to help women overcome fear, abuse and emotional trauma while equipping them with skills to achieve financial independence and rebuild their confidence.
