Sammy Awuku Speaks on August 6 Victims, Galamsey and NPP Demonstration

The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammy Awuku, says the best way to honour the victims of the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash is for government to renew its fight against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
He said tackling galamsey would serve as a fitting tribute to the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and the six other victims who lost their lives in the crash.
Speaking after the NPP's “Democracy Under Attack” demonstration, Mr. Awuku also rejected claims that the protest should have been postponed because it coincided with the National Inter-Faith Memorial Service held in honour of the crash victims.
