Cenotaph Unveiled for Dr. Edward Omane Boamah as Ghana Marks One Year Since Crash

Ghana has honoured the memory of the late former Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, with the unveiling of a cenotaph dedicated to his service and contributions to the nation.
The memorial forms part of activities marking the first anniversary of the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of Dr. Omane Boamah and seven other public officials while on official duty.
President John Dramani Mahama led the nation in remembering the victims during a National Interfaith Memorial Service, assuring the families of the eight deceased that Ghana continues to stand with them.
The President described the victims as patriotic public servants whose dedication, sacrifice and commitment to Ghana will never be forgotten.
Bereaved families also paid glowing tributes to their departed loved ones, reflecting on their lives, values and contributions to the country.
At the cenotaph, dignitaries including Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, MP for Awutu Senya West Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, Works and Housing Minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, and Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey gathered to honour the late Defence Minister.
The unveiling of the cenotaph serves as a lasting reminder of Dr. Omane Boamah's years of public service, his commitment to Ghana and the legacy he left behind.
