Research Fellow at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Prof. Charles Ackah, says Ghana's development challenges are rooted in weaknesses in the country's moral, ethical and political systems.
Speaking on Point of View with Bernard Avle, Prof. Ackah argued that integrity, ethics and accountability form the foundation for sustainable development, stressing that corruption and weak institutions can undermine even well-designed policies.
He also criticised aspects of Ghana's political system, arguing that a lack of meritocracy affects the selection of people for key public positions and limits the country's progress.
Prof. Ackah said stronger ethical standards and a more functional political system are needed to build a nation capable of achieving long-term economic transformation.
