Research Fellow at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Prof. Charles Ackah, says Ghana's economic progress must be measured beyond fiscal balances by addressing deeper structural challenges affecting the economy and living standards.

Speaking on Point of View with Bernard Avle, Prof. Ackah identified what he described as critical structural deficits contributing to Ghana's economic underperformance.

He argued that Ghana's 65-year growth record has been too slow to deliver rapid economic transformation, noting that the country's per capita income was higher than South Korea's in 1960 but has since been surpassed due to differences in industrialisation, investment strategies and economic planning.

Prof. Ackah highlighted the need for Ghana to confront long-standing challenges that affect productivity, growth and development.
