As she continues to recover from recent health challenges, President Mahama told her she has been deeply missed in Ghana, where she owns a renowned mountainside residence and studio complex in the Akuapem Mountains near Aburi.

In November 2019, Nana Rita Marley was granted Ghanaian citizenship alongside 126 members of the African diaspora.
