Fire Guts Family Home of Late Tamale Central MP Mohammed Murtala One Year After Death

The family home of the late Tamale Central Member of Parliament, Mohammed Murtala, has been gutted by fire, destroying nine out of the 17 rooms in the compound.
The incident occurred exactly one year after the late legislator and seven others lost their lives in the August 6 military helicopter crash, a tragedy that shocked the nation.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) says firefighters responded swiftly after receiving a distress call and rescued two schoolchildren who were trapped in one of the rooms.
Authorities have begun investigations to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
