The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Rent Control Commission have shut down two private hostels in Koforidua over concerns about poor sanitation and facility management.

The enforcement exercise followed complaints from students of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) about conditions at some private accommodation facilities.

Officials inspected Serwaa Heights and Adehyi3 Hostel, where students raised concerns over sanitation and the state of the facilities.

The exercise forms part of efforts by authorities to ensure that private hostels meet required standards and provide safe accommodation for students.
