More Waterway Structures at Laboma, Agbogbloshie to Be Demolished Next Week

The Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) says more structures built on waterways, particularly at Laboma and Agbogbloshie, will be demolished next week as part of efforts to address flooding in the capital.

The planned demolitions follow recent clean-up exercises, desilting of drains and earlier demolition activities carried out after the June 29 floods that affected parts of Accra.

Speaking after a monitoring visit to selected Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, said government remains committed to reducing flooding and improving drainage management in the region.

She added that authorities will continue with measures aimed at protecting lives and property from the impact of floods.
