Fire Guts Family Home of Late Tamale Central MP Mohammed Murtala

The family home of the late Tamale Central Member of Parliament, Mohammed Murtala, who died in the August 6 helicopter crash, has been hit by a devastating fire.
The blaze, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, destroyed nine out of the 17 rooms in the house.
Speaking to Channel One News, the Northern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, ADO I Hudu Baba, said the Service received a distress call at 3:29 p.m. and firefighters arrived at the scene at 3:37 p.m.
He said two schoolchildren who were trapped in one of the rooms were successfully rescued when firefighters arrived, after which efforts were made to bring the fire under control.
ADO I Hudu Baba added that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
