'We Pay GH¢9,000 a Year!' KTU Students Expose Conditions at Private Hostels

Students of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) are calling on the Rent Control Department and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to close down all unsanitary private hostels operating around the university.

The appeal comes after officials conducted a surprise inspection following complaints from students.

During the exercise, officials visited Serwaa Heights and Adehyi3 Hostel, where students expressed frustration over the conditions despite paying as much as GH¢9,000 per year for accommodation.

The Acting Commissioner of the Rent Control Department toured the facilities, engaged with students and enforced the closure of the two hostels.
