BoG’s Bad Loans Directive: Analyst Says Banks Are Well-Positioned to Comply

Finance and tax analyst Nelson Cudjoe Kuagbedzi says Ghana's banks are well-positioned to meet the Bank of Ghana's directive to reduce non-performing loans to below 10 percent by the end of 2026.
The directive forms part of the central bank's efforts to improve asset quality within the banking sector and support increased lending to the private sector.
Speaking on Channel One Business, Mr. Kuagbedzi said reducing non-performing loans would strengthen banks' capacity to provide credit to businesses and support economic activity.
He noted that improving loan performance will be important in creating a stronger and more resilient banking system.
