Tarkwa Explosion: Police Investigate Blast After Alleged Shooting at Python

The Western Central Regional Police Command is investigating an explosion at a tailings site in Aboso near Tarkwa that killed three people and injured three others.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the facility owner, David Kofi Fletcher, now deceased, allegedly fired at a python spotted at the site, triggering an explosion involving explosives stored at the facility.
The blast also caused damage to nearby homes.
Speaking to Channel One News, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Western Central Regional Police Command, ASP Beatrice Turkson, said the Police are working with the Minerals Commission to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the deadly explosion.
