North East Minister Urges White Volta Residents to Relocate Ahead of Possible Bagre Dam Spillage

The North East Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia, says he has directed Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the region to sensitise residents and farmers living along the White Volta River to relocate to higher ground as a precaution.
The directive follows a notice from the operators of the Bagre Dam that excess water may be released if water levels continue to rise.
Speaking to Channel One News, the Minister said the precautionary measures are aimed at preventing possible loss of lives and property should the spillage occur.
Authorities are urging communities along the river to take the advisory seriously and cooperate with local assemblies as preparations continue.
