NPP Insists August 6 Protest Will Go Ahead Despite State Memorial

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it will proceed with its planned peaceful demonstration on August 6, despite the government's memorial ceremony for victims of last year's military helicopter crash.

Addressing the media, the party's National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, said the demonstration will go ahead as scheduled and urged supporters to remain peaceful throughout the exercise.

He also warned that anyone who attempts to disrupt the protest would be held responsible for their actions.

The NPP says the demonstration is intended to highlight concerns over what it describes as selective justice, threats to judicial independence, suppression of free speech and the erosion of Ghana's democracy.
